STYROFOAM™ Brand insulation reduces energy bills and greenhouse gases
Installed in more than 20 million residential and commercial buildings worldwide, Dow´s STYROFOAM™ Brand Products save more energy each year than Dow uses to produce all of its products across the globe. STYROFOAM™ insulation currently insulates more than 20 billion square feet, saving residential and business owners an estimated $10 billion in energy costs annually.
Recognized by its distinctive blue color, STYROFOAM™ Brand Insulation helps provide year-round comfort and energy savings through its water resistance, high insulation value and compressive strength. Available in a wide variety of sizes and thickness, it can be found in almost any insulating application, from rooftops to basements/foundations and all areas in between.
The suite of STYROFOAM™ Brand Products have achieved Cradle to Cradle Certification at the Basic and Silver levels. Cradle to Cradle, recognized as one of the most comprehensive product evaluations across a broad spectrum of criteria, is a process that assesses products for their ingredients´ human health, environmental health and recyclability profiles, and aligns with Dow´s 2015 Sustainability Goals, especially in the areas of renewable energy, water stewardship and social responsibility. Further, Cradle to Cradle Certification builds on Dow´s legacy of building solutions that save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by measuring the company´s progressions across additional sustainability criteria.
In 2010 Dow Building Solutions introduced XENERGY™ in the European Construction market:
an improved generation of STYROFOAM™ XPS. XENERGY™ addresses the requirements of new and emerging European and National regulations for reduced energy consumption from buildings (e.g. Energy Performance of Buildings Directive) as well requirements for construction products to be safe for health and the environment (e.g. European Directive for Building Products)
